Import & migration — move from your old software
Switching from spreadsheets, Tally, Vyapar or another app? Bring your items, customers and opening balances in bulk instead of typing them again.

Read this first
- ▸ Import items, parties and opening balances from Excel/CSV.
- ▸ Use the sample template so your columns line up automatically.
- ▸ Our team helps you migrate over WhatsApp — no technical knowledge needed.
Being straight with you
- • Tally-compatible export/import is on the Shakti plan; standard CSV import works on every plan.
- • Always keep a copy of your original file until you've checked the imported data looks right.
Step by step
- 1
Download the template
Items/Parties → ImportGet the sample so your columns (Name, Price, GST%) match.
- 2
Paste and upload
Put your data into the template and upload the file.
- 3
Review & confirm
Fix any rows flagged in red (usually a missing field), then confirm the import.
Bring your business in, don't re-type it
Switching from spreadsheets, Tally, Vyapar or another app? You don't have to type everything again. Import your items, customers and opening balances in bulk and start where you left off.
What to import (and what to skip)
- Items — your products/services with price, HSN and GST.
- Parties — customers and suppliers with GSTIN and state.
- Opening balances — what each party owes (or you owe) on your start date.
- Skip years of messy history — bring masters and balances, then start clean from a chosen date.
The three-step import
| Step | Do this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Download the sample template | So your columns line up automatically |
| 2 | Paste your data & upload | Bulk-creates everything at once |
| 3 | Review flagged rows & confirm | Fix a missing field before it's saved |

Moving from Tally
CSV import covers items, parties and balances, and the Shakti plan adds Tally-compatible export/import. Our team will help you migrate over WhatsApp — no technical knowledge needed on your side.
Troubleshooting
Some rows were skipped
Fix: Skipped rows usually miss a required field (like Name) or have a wrong GST%. Fix those cells and re-upload just those rows.
Import created duplicates
Fix: Existing names are detected — choose ‘skip’ or ‘update’ rather than ‘create’ on the next import.
My columns don't match the template
Fix: Use the sample template, or map your columns during import.
Words you’ll see (in plain English)
- Masters
- Your core lists — items and parties — as opposed to transactions.
- Opening balance
- What a party owes (or you owe) on your start date.
- CSV
- A simple spreadsheet file format used for import/export.
