Read this first

  • Record receipts against invoices so balances update instantly.
  • See receivables by age (30/60/90+ days) — know who to chase first.
  • Send polite, automatic reminders and a UPI link so customers pay in a tap.

Being straight with you

  • Recording payments and seeing outstanding balances is on every plan; the automated collections dashboard and overdue reminders are Unnati+.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Record a receipt

    Payments → Receive

Pick the customer and invoice, enter the amount and mode (cash/UPI/card/bank). The balance updates at once.

  2. 2

    See who owes you

Open the receivables view to see outstanding amounts grouped by how overdue they are.

  3. 3

    Send a reminder

Send a polite reminder with a payment link; on higher plans, set a schedule so it runs automatically.

Money in, money out — record both

Payments are simply the cash side of your business: receipts (money customers pay you) and payments (money you pay suppliers). Recording them keeps your balances honest and your books in step with your bank.

  • Receipt — record what a customer paid, against their invoice. Their balance drops instantly.
  • Payment — record what you paid a supplier, against their bill. Your payable drops.
  • Each one posts to the right ledger, so receivables, payables and accounts all stay accurate.

Reading your receivables (the ageing view)

‘Receivables’ is the money owed to you. The ageing view groups it by how overdue it is, so you chase the right customers first instead of treating everyone the same.

Getting paid faster, without the awkwardness

Chasing money is uncomfortable, which is why it gets put off — and why cash gets stuck. The fix is to make it a system, not a personal favour you have to ask for.

  • Put a UPI pay-link on every invoice so paying is one tap.
  • Send polite reminders before and after the due date.
  • On higher plans, set a reminder schedule (e.g. 3-day, 7-day, 15-day) so follow-ups run automatically.
A scheduled, polite reminder with a pay-link collects more, faster, than an awkward phone call you keep postponing.

Credit limits and terms

Set payment terms and a credit limit per customer so due dates and risk are managed up front. When a customer is near or over their limit, you'll know before you extend more credit.

Why profit and bank balance differ

A common worry: ‘I'm profitable, so why is my bank low?’ Usually the money is sitting in receivables (unpaid invoices) or in stock. The payments screen and the dashboard show exactly how much is stuck where — so you can act on it.

Troubleshooting

A customer's balance didn't update after they paid

Fix: Make sure the receipt is recorded against the correct invoice, not just as a loose entry.

Receivables look higher than expected

Fix: Check for receipts not yet recorded, or invoices raised twice. The ageing view helps spot anomalies.

Reminders aren't going out

Fix: Confirm the customer has a contact saved and that the reminder schedule is enabled (higher plans).
