Data Protection & Storage Policy

Exactly where your business data lives, how it is secured and backed up, and how you can export or delete it.

โš–๏ธ Please note: This is a good-faith, India-aligned draft, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified Indian advocate and confirm that the technical details below match your actual production setup before publishing.

1. Our "local-first" approach

MGH Books is built to work even without internet. To do that, a working copy of your business data is stored on your own device, in your web browser's local storage, and an encrypted copy is synced to our servers when you are online.

LayerWhat is storedWhere
On your deviceYour business records (invoices, parties, items, expenses, inventory, settings), language preference, draft sessionsYour browser's localStorage / sessionStorage
Our servers (cloud sync)An encrypted copy of your account & business data, your licence, payment confirmationsHosting servers located in India
Payment partnerPayment/transaction records (no full card/UPI credentials with us)Razorpay (PCI-DSS compliant)

2. Data residency

Your data is stored on servers located in India. If we ever need to transfer or process data outside India, we will do so only in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and any restrictions notified by the Government of India.

3. Security measures

These reflect "reasonable security practices and procedures" as contemplated by Section 43A of the IT Act and the SPDI Rules, 2011. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Backups & your responsibility

โš ๏ธ You must keep your own backups. Because a primary copy of your data lives in your browser, the following can cause permanent loss of locally stored data that we may be unable to recover: Please export your data regularly using the built-in CSV/PDF export, and store those backups safely.

We maintain reasonable server-side backups of synced data as part of normal operations, but these are for our disaster-recovery purposes and are not a substitute for your own backups.

5. Limitation of liability โ€” no liability for data loss

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MGH Books and Mystical Home Decor Products โ€” and their owners, employees, contractors and partners โ€” shall NOT be liable for any loss, corruption, deletion, inaccessibility or unavailability of your data, whether stored in your browser, in transit, or on our servers, arising from ANY cause whatsoever, including (without limitation) the circumstances listed in Section 4, software errors, sync or backup failures, hosting/infrastructure issues, security incidents, third-party services, or force majeure (events beyond our reasonable control).

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranty that data will be preserved without interruption or loss. Your sole and exclusive remedy for any data loss is to restore from your own backups and any server backups we may hold. Our total aggregate liability (if any) is limited as set out in our Terms of Service and is nil for free plans. By using MGH Books you acknowledge and accept this allocation of risk, which is a fundamental basis of our agreement.

6. Exporting your data (portability)

You can export your business data at any time from within the app (for example, parties, items and transactions as CSV, and invoices/reports as PDF). On account closure we will, for a reasonable period, allow you to export your data before deletion.

7. Retention & deletion

We retain synced data while your account is active and thereafter only as long as needed for legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes. You may request deletion of your personal data by emailing support@mysticalglowhub.com; we will delete or anonymise it subject to any record-keeping obligations under law (e.g. GST/Income-tax). Data stored locally in your browser can be cleared by you at any time from your device.

8. Data breach

In the event of a personal data breach, we will act promptly to contain it and will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India where and as required by the DPDP Act and its rules.

9. Data we process on your behalf

If you store personal data of your own customers, suppliers or staff inside MGH Books, you are the data fiduciary for that data and are responsible for having a lawful basis for it. We process it solely to provide the Service to you, under our Privacy Policy and Terms.
