CA Reports & Financial Statements

"My accountant speaks a language I don't." This is where MGH Books translates your everyday entries into the exact statements and registers a Chartered Accountant expects β€” Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Cash Flow, and 50+ statutory registers. Nothing is typed twice: every report is built live from the invoices, bills, expenses and stock you've already recorded, ready to view, print as PDF, or export to Excel for your CA.

πŸ“‹ Module: Reports & Analysis πŸ“ Dashboard β†’ Reports ⏱ ~9 min read πŸ–¨ Export: Excel/CSV + PDF/Print

Read this first β€” you don't "make" these reports

βš–οΈ Being straight with you β€” what it does not do
  • It prepares & exports filing-ready data (e.g. GSTR-1, TDS summaries). It does not auto-file returns on the GST/Income-Tax portal.
  • Figures are only as accurate as your entries. Missing invoices/bills/opening balances will show.
  • Depreciation is computed from each asset's cost, method (SLM/WDV), salvage and life. Where a manual figure isn't stored, it's an estimate.
  • The Balance Sheet uses a labelled "balancing figure" for capital when opening balances aren't entered β€” so enter opening balances for a precise statement.

Before you start

For complete reports, make sure the underlying data exists (each links to its guide):

Step 1 β€” Open the Reports screen

Trial Balance lists every account's debit/credit grouped into Income, Purchases, Expenses, Assets and Equity, with a labelled balancing figure where opening balances aren't entered, across 7 tabs.

Real situations

πŸ“– Month-end pack for the CA

Pooja opens Reports, exports the P&L, Balance Sheet and Trial Balance to Excel and emails them to her CA β€” no spreadsheets built by hand.

πŸ“– Chasing the oldest dues

She opens Debtors Aging, sorts by the 90+ bucket, and prioritises those calls β€” the riskiest money first.

πŸ“– A stock certificate for the bank

Her bank wants a closing-stock statement. She opens the Closing Stock Certificate (WAC/AS-2) and prints it to PDF β€” CA-certifiable.

FAQ

Do I have to enter anything to get these reports?

No separate entry β€” they're built from your invoices, bills and expenses. Enter opening balances once for the most precise statements.

Can my CA use these directly?

Yes β€” they follow Schedule III / AS-3 / AS-2 and export to Excel/CSV and PDF. Many CAs work straight from the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet and register library.

Why does my Balance Sheet show a "balancing figure"?

Opening capital/balances haven't been entered, so a labelled figure keeps it balanced. Enter opening balances to replace it.

Does it file my GST or income tax?

No β€” it prepares filing-ready data (GSTR-1, TDS, 9C, Form 168 (ex-26AS) recon) that you/your CA file on the portal.

πŸ”— This module reads from β€” and connects to
  • Sales β†’ revenue, output GST, debtors, sales registers.
  • Purchases & Expenses β†’ purchases, ITC, creditors, expense registers.
  • Items & Inventory β†’ closing stock (WAC/AS-2), HSN, stock aging.
  • Parties β†’ aging, ledgers, confirmation letters.
  • Settings β†’ financial year, name, GSTIN, signatory on every header.
  • GST & Tax β†’ GSTR-1/TDS/Form 168 (ex-26AS) figures feed your filing β€” see GST & e-Invoice.
